It’s getting close to a decade since our first experiences of Overland Expo West. Those earlier years were filled with meeting rad people who were doing cool things. Building products in their garage, traveling to rad places in purpose-built vehicles, and lots of people who just like doing cool stuff outside.
Over the years, Overland Expo has grown exponentially. And with its growth and change of ownership, it’s had to become more of a trade show and less of a gathering.
Being stuck in a trade show booth in a parking lot can start to feel like you’re an exhibit at the zoo. This year, we broke out of captivity and tried something new:
The response was over 200 people showing up to hang out by the fire and/or go for a ride. It felt like a breath of fresh air and a return to what we remember from years past.
We’re always down to talk about the products we’ve poured our heart and soul into making, but honestly, we’d rather go for a ride or hang out by the fire with you to talk about them.
We’ll be at Overland Expo PNW next month. Hopefully we’ll see you out on the trails there too.
Big thanks to our friends Rayco Design and Howl Campfires for helping make this all come together.
Let us know what you thought of Expo West this year and where you think the Overland Expo series is headed in the comments below.
